Mail Server:-   hostname=server0.example.com,  IP=172.25.0.11/24
Mail Client:-   hostname=desktop0.example.com, IP=172.25.0.10/24

# yum -y install postfix*
# vim /etc/postfix/main.cf
Go to Last Line-----------------and type.

inet_interfaces=all
mydestination=localhost, server0.example.com
mynetworks=127.0.0.0/8, 172.25.0.0/24
relayhost=[smtp0.example.com]---------------------------Save and Exit
  • Restart Postfix Service and Add Firewall.
# systemctl restart postfix
# systemctl enable postfix
# firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=smtp
# firewall-cmd --complete-reload
  • For checking the work is complete properly or not.
# useradd harry
# mail harry
here type Subject, then press Enter
Press ctrl+D
# su - harry
# mail
# exit

Note:- if the mail command displays any mail that is sent by the other user then your
work is completed properly.



ON Desktop Side:-

  • Install Postfix  Package using Yum Repositary and entry main.cf file.
# yum -y install postfix*
# vim /etc/postfix/main.cf
Entry blue line this file
myorigin=desktop0.example.com
inet_interfaces=all
mydestination=localhost, desktop0.example.com
mynetworks=127.0.0.0/8, 172.25.0.0/24
save and Exit
  • Restart postfix services and Firewall add.
# systemctl restart postfix
# systemctl enable postfix
# firewall-cmd --permanent --add-service=smtp
# firewall-cmd --complete-reload
  • For checking the work is complete properly or not.
# useradd susan
# mail susan
Enter Subject and press Enter
Press Ctrl+d
# su - susan
# mail
# exit

Note:- if the mail command displays any mail that is sent by the other user then your
work is completed properly.


Send mail Server to Desktop.
# mail [email protected]
type Subject
Press Ctrl+d



Send mail Desktop to Server.
# mail [email protected]
type Subject
Press Ctrl+D
